2017 Mini was a great success.

Posted 8/29/2017 9:48:25 AM

I would have to say this was a great reunion. Weather perfect, but we still had a fire in the fireplace and no bugs. CD player with some of our favorite tunes of old. Good friends, food delicious, plenty of it and enough for everyone to take home an extra meal. Glad we thought of foam containers. Ernie did a great job for us and gave us some extras. Plenty of chicken, corn on the cob (done perfect) fruit salad with 3 kinds of melon, raspberries, strawberries and grapes. Mac salad, potato salad and a spiral pasta salad, salt potatoes and he threw in spicy chicken wings. We had a big bowl of just watermelon that Liz provided, Hazel - a nice appetizer of cheeses and crackers, and variety of grapes. I provided a taco veg. dip. Nancy brought her bocce ball set that Vince and I did a few rounds of. We should have organized some teams. First time I had played it or attempted to. Like it. Some took a walk over to the Falls viewing point. Everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves with just the conversations. Billy Owens always a great conversationalist had a collective group. Thanks to everyone on our crew for their assistance in getting set up and taking down. Liz, thank you for chairing this year and for your lovely flowers from your garden for the tables. We did very good with our cost this year. $15.36 per head inclu. tax and gratuity covered the meal (unbelievable). $20.00 charge was enough to cover the additional costs, right on the nose almost $19.88, including the $100 fee for the pavilion. Nothing had to be taken from the treasury.

Central Tech Tour - Saturday August 27

Posted 8/6/2011 11:01:51 AM

I just talked to Sehl Burns and we are all set for the tour at 10:00 AM on Saturday. Sehl will be there and he has invited the new school superintendent, Sharon Contreras. He's not sure she will come. There will be no fee as the district is interested in promoting restoration of the old building.

CAN YOU TAKE GOOD PIX

Posted 7/26/2010 10:23:27 AM

DEAR CLASSMATE: We are learning that professional photographers are kin to lawn/snow service folks. They must make their year’s salary in a finite time period. Thus, they are quite expensive. The local committee has found a good one...a reliable and professional fellow....he is willing to cut his rate in half to a mere $2600 + $30 for the Reunion Booklet + we take responsibility for sending the booklets out, purchasing envelopes, and postage. Some of us find this unacceptable. There are a few of us on the Reunion Committee who can take pix. However, with over 175 classmates already signed on to attend, we would be taking photos rather than enjoying the reunion we have worked so hard to produce. As an alternative to any few doing all of the photos, I am interested in knowing how many of you would be willing to take a half hour-hour stint at using your digital camera and giving me the little chip and sign up sheet at the end of your time. With these cameras, it is pretty difficult to mess up. Just as a feeler, please write me back if you would be willing to do some shots of singles or couples for a period of time. State the time frame. We all want to enjoy our reunion. I surely don’t want these kind of fees to eat into our being able to subsidize events and still have sufficient funding for Recorders. Do you know that it cost over $1100 and about 16 man/woman hours to put that into your hands? We work very hard and want your contributions to the Annual Appeal to be used judiciously. I am sure you will agree with that. Kathleen PS I am willing to attempt to do a Reunion Booklet that can be purchased by classmates at cost to reproduce and mail. It will take some time but you know it is everyone’s best interest to keep me off the streets for long periods of time.

Heads up kids from Kathy

Posted 7/23/2010 2:48:06 PM

The Reunion Surveys came in by the dozens and Denny created a spreadsheet for me. We can see who will attend and whether they need hotel reservations...when they will attend--Friday, Saturday and/or Sunday. I can also enter those who will not attend and those who do not wish any info from the class whatsoever. Those are the ones who really hurt. So many kids had a rough time in school and never got past it. The ones who failed to return the surveys are getting a call from me...one or more a day and it no time at all I will have reached all of them...sometimes a person just needs to know that others care whether they are there or not. I picked up five more just the other afternoon. I have already made most all of the classmates' name tags. This year the yrbk photo is even larger. While we don't notice ourselves changing, it is important to have a nice big high school picture and a name in large letters for those who walk up to us. I am most of the way through the weekend program that you can refer to each day for activities. I have the In Memoriam video ready to be put on CD but will wait until the last minute for that to be processed. There are 62 gone now and, regrettably, there will be more during this coming year. I have worked with Peter Reed, our Tom Reed's older brother, to find more of the AWOL kids and Pete has been a gem. We lose a few with every mailing and have to find out where they moved in order to re-send the info. The kids in Syracuse have done a tremendous job at seeking out venues. They keep in close touch and we are almost ready to make the final announcement for the Recorder--which, of course, Denny is putting together. The locals, Sue Kenyon, Liz Beiling, Mike Holley, Callie Ann Pappas will be printing and mailing The Recorder within the next couple of weeks. It will have all the info on the Mini-Reunion in it. That is slated for August of this year...about 30 classmates enjoy attending that each year. As noted previously, we are now over 170 classmates planning on attending the 50th...we will soar to over 250 attendees with guests. We are also working hard to do a major subsidy of events so all may attend for free or a minimum amount. Guests will pay the full shot, of course. Friday will be an appetizer cash bar event and Saturday will be an afternoon Clambake of major proportions...all at the splendid Borios on Oneida Lake.

Reunion Update - July 9th

Posted 7/9/2010 3:19:46 PM

We have 170 classmates planning on attending our 50th. This is an absolutely amazing response. At this point, we figure there will be more (locals are not quick to respond) and we will probably have 250-275 total attendees if just half of them bring a spouse, partner, guest, African violet....
